Juanuary 11th at 6PM Take the dark out of Queens Park coined by Tony Antonios. The residents of Queens Park want to gather to support their fellow citizens taking back the park from thugs.
This is not a political event nor a critism of any department of the City of New Westminster.
It is a way of showing criminals that we won't be intimidated.
All parks in New Westminster should be safe to walk through at anytime but definitely before 11PM.
I am disappointed that anyone would think or tweet that this is a political event as it shows their stupidity and small mindedness. We do not want people to be afaird to enjoy their parks, their city and use both to the fullest extent.

Working on the murder of Dr. Robert Henry MacLauchlan and his wife Margaret Ann (Herring/Cunningham) MacLauchlan murdered March 21, 1966.

Rod Drown and myself are at present researching the family trees of the these two people and the reason behind this 45 year old unsovlved homicide. We have uncovered some very interesting family connections.

Both families were very highly thought of but how did herion come to play in their deaths?

There has been 29 from BC but Kevin Reimer although born in Macon, Georgia while his dad Gerry Reimer played there. Kevin has always called Enderby home and he retired there. Thus that makes 30. I am also thinking of adding Ossie Chavarria who married Donna while playing with the Mounties and since 1974 has resided in Burnaby raising two children.

Frosty Kennedy the original New Westminster Manager

Frosty Kennedy was the first manager of the New Westminster Frasers during the naming of the team with Dean Taylor in February. But none of the players I have contact remember for sure if Frosty was at any of the tryouts in May and June. Frosty appears to be a character that much like Babe Ruth who did not necessarily look after himself but both hit 60 home runs in a season. It is unknown when Kennedy was replaced by John Wojcik as manager.

Greg Riddoch has been involved in baseball since 1967 playing in the Cincinnati organization until 1971.In 1974 Riddoch had his first managing job with the Seattle Rainiers in the Cincinnati Reds organization, 1975-81 he managed the Eugene Emeralds for the Reds. Riddoch was hired by Dean Taylor as Director of Scouting he then moved over to Cincinnati holding the same post, Riddoch was a coach for the Padres and Devil Rays, moving to manager of the Padres in 1990-192. The 1961 Vancouver Mounties were scheduled to play five dates in Queens Park with a start time of 1PM. The dates wereMay 6th verses the Hawaiian Island, May 13th was rained out, June 3rd verses the Portland Beavers, June 24th verses the Sandiego Padres and the final date July 15th against the Spokane Indians. 1962 saw another five games scheduled. May 26th vs the Portland Beavers, June 30th against the Salt Lake City Bees. July 5th saw the Vancouver Mounties cancell the last three dates in Queens Park due to poor attendence (884) at each game played. The Mounties were strapped financially and needed the Minnesota Twins help keep them solvent.

Royal Towers being renovated

When gaming came to New Westminster in the late 1990's the Crystal Ballroom was transformed into a Casino. When the Casino left in the late 2000's the Towers was in transition. I understand that the Towers is going through some renovations at present.

I have just learned of a top level college summer league being played mainly in Washington State with a team in Bellingham. This league is called the West Coast League which plays June 04 to Aug08,2010. With teams in Corvallis, Cowlitz, Bellingham, Wenatche, Walla Walla, Moses Lake and Kitsap, Washington. A team is in Kelowna, BC and Bend, Oregon. The college players use wooden bats. The league is in its sixth year and will expand to Klamath Falls, Oregon and Couer d'Alene, Idaho in 2011.
Bellingham is owned by the Brett Brothers who own the Spokane Indians of the NWL plus other professional minor league teams. New Westminster would be a good fit for this type of entertainment I believe.

New Westminster Frasers' manager John Wojcik
